About Us

A sunset view with silhouettes of trees and parked cars. — Elks Lodge
A sunset view with silhouettes of trees and parked cars.

Walk through the door at 111 Main St and you'll feel it immediately: this is a place where strangers don't stay strangers for long. Visitors consistently remark on how quickly they were made to feel at home, and that warmth isn't an accident. The members of the Esperance Elks Lodge have spent years building a culture where showing up matters, whether you're a longtime brother or someone stepping inside for the very first time.

The lodge earns its 4.6-star reputation the old-fashioned way: genuine hospitality and real community investment. From summer chicken BBQs that draw crowds from across Schoharie County to charitable work driven by the incoming Exalted Ruler and his team, this lodge puts its values into action. The kitchen crew is accommodating, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the conversations are the kind you don't want to end.

This is Esperance, NY at its best: a small-town lodge with a big heart, connected to the national Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks mission of charity, justice, brotherly love, and fidelity.

What We Offer

The Esperance Elks Lodge offers more than a meeting room. Dinners are served regularly, with a cook who goes out of the way to accommodate dietary needs, whether that means skipping onions and garlic or adjusting a dish entirely. The dining experience feels personal, not institutional.

Beyond the table, the lodge hosts community fundraisers, seasonal events like the beloved summer BBQ series, and civic programs that channel member energy into real local impact. Members gain access to a comfortable lounge, a built-in social network, and the sense of purpose that comes from belonging to something larger than yourself.

Interested in membership? The lodge welcomes inquiries from Americans 18 and older who believe in the Elks' core values. Visiting members from other lodges are always welcome to stop in and enjoy the hospitality Esperance is known for.

"I went there to have an early dinner with my brother and my niece with her 1 year old son. The cook was very pleasant and accommodating. I can't have onions or garlic, so shrimp scampi was not on my menu. He made chicken marsala with mushrooms...no sauce for me. It was very good. The carrots were also very pleasant. Sometime I would like to go up there again, not once a year. The lodge has made some nice renovations too. Looking good!!!"

A Proud Heritage

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
